From the efficacy of your management system to the standards governing the health and safety of your workforce, ISO certifications serve as prominent benchmarks for businesses committed to maintaining high-quality products and safe, productive working environments. Additionally, specialized industries, such as automotive, telecoms, aerospace, and food sectors, have tailored certifications to meet their specific requirements.
The process for management systems certification is straightforward and typically follows a generic process consistent with ISO management systems standards. A list of standards adhering to the same generic process, using Annex SL as a guideline, includes:
- ISO 9001 – Quality Management Systems
- ISO 14001 – Environmental Management
- ISO 45001 – Occupational Health & Safety
- ISO 50001 – Energy Management
- ISO 27001 – Information Security
- ISO 22301 – Business Continuity Management
- And more
Minor discrepancies exist for specific standards such as AS9100 (aerospace quality management standard) and IATF 16949 (automotive quality management standard), which we’re happy to clarify during your application process.
ISO Certification Process

- Initial certification audit
- Stage 1
- Stage 2
- Certification
To better comprehend the ISO certification process, each step is elaborated below:
Application
You’ll complete an application form (also known as a Quote Request Form at ICB) to provide us with information about your company and its requirements. We’ll use this to define the assessment scope and propose certification.
Assessment
Upon agreement with your proposal, assessments are scheduled with an ICB Assessor. This involves two mandatory visits forming the Initial Certification Audit.
Initial Certification Audit — Stage 1
This assessment confirms your organization’s readiness for full assessment. It involves a documentation review assessment at your management system center.
Initial Certification Audit — Stage 2
This assessment ensures the management system fully complies with the chosen standard in practice. It may include audits of additional sites or remote activities.
Certification
Following a successful two-stage audit, a certification decision is made, and if positive, certification to the required standard is issued by ICB.
Certification is valid for three years and maintained through annual surveillance audits and a three-yearly recertification audit.
